UC Berkeley Men's Club Soccer
2014/15 Open Division National Champions

About Cal Men's Club Soccer

The UC Berkeley Men’s Club Soccer Program affords students at UC Berkeley, who don’t wish to commit to Division One Soccer, a highly competitive atmosphere to train and play in. The program fields an A and a B team in the fall. Both teams compete in the highly prestigious Aztec Cup, hosted by SDSU at the end of September, the WCSA Fall League, and the NIRSA regional tournament. The A team also competes in the NIRSA National Tournament, an event that the team has won twice in the Open Division, once in 2014 and once in 2006. There is only one team in the Spring, which competes in the WCSA Spring League and the WCSA National Showcase.

Most players in the program have significant club experience in high school, as well as USSF Academy and ODP exposure. The program also sees a large amount of Norwegian exchange students who previously played professionally in the lower leagues in Norway. Club Soccer has also been a platform for Division One players to continue playing after injury or eligibility expiration. Tryouts for the team are held at the beginning of every semester, and all players, regardless of prior playing experience for Club Soccer are required to attend tryouts. More information about tryouts can be found on the Schedule page.
